Rearrange terms.

$x^{4} + 2 x^{2} \cdot 1 + 1 - x^{2}$

Factor first three terms by perfect square rule.

${(x^{2} + 1)}^{2} - x^{2}$

Since both terms are perfect squares, factor using the difference of squares formula, $a^{2} - b^{2} = (a + b) (a - b)$ where $a = x^{2} + 1$ and $b = x$ .

$(x^{2} + 1 + x) (x^{2} + 1 - x)$
